My Aged Care Services

IMPORTANT: Register early with My Aged Care Services.

My Aged Care is a free Government service that helps older people and their carers to navigate the aged care system. MyAged Care has a website and a telephone contact centre. My Aged Care is your starting point on your aged care journey and they’ll tell you if you can get government-funded aged care services.

All the services require you to wait for an assessment to be made. It can take up to 6 months or more for that assessment.

Services Australia (Centrelink)

Government help packages mostly require a financial assessment. The assessment helps them work out how much your contribution towards the cost of packages should be. Not everyone has to make a contribution and financial assessments can be done as often as required as your circumstances change.

Organise your financial assessment as soon as possible. Aged Care Facilities require this for admission. It takes quite a while to fill in the form and it is complicated. Services Australia offers an aged care financial advisor and there are private services that offer help for a fee. Choose one with a flat rate.
